You never know what someone is going through until you take a walk in their shoes. Dawn Robinson, 58, of the 7-time Grammy-nominated R&B group En Vogue, is a prime example. She revealed on social media that she has been living in her car for three years. Fans were left shocked, wondering how she could go from being a member of one of the most successful female groups of all time, dominating the early 90s, to being homeless.

Robinson stated she lived with her mother for a while, but after being attacked with verbal abuse, she decided to leave. She then moved in with a co-manager, who offered to help her find an apartment. That situation didn’t work out either, as she felt she was getting the runaround.

Now, three years later, Robinson is living in her car after contemplating the idea. Surprisingly, she doesn’t want anyone to feel sorry for her. Despite the circumstances, and after making that transition, she stated, “I felt free. There was a sense of freedom that I had. I felt free. Wow, it’s so different. I felt like I was on a camping trip. I felt like it was the right thing to do. I didn’t regret it.”

Let’s allow her to explain the rest of the story in her own words. Check out the full 18-minute video below.
