When you blend country, R&B, and pop music with perfect pitch harmonies and incredible vocals, you get The Boykinz. These young ladies are a dynamic quartet composed of four sisters: Kylan, Anale, Nytere, and Alona. They are the complete package: singers, songwriters, musicians, and dancers. The BoykinZ can be described in two words: “simply amazing.”
The Fleet Mag reporter DJ Pynk Dyamond had the opportunity to sit down with The BoykinZ for an in-depth interview. They discussed their journey in the music industry, their viral TikTok moment, musical influences, upcoming projects, and more.
The BoykinZ were born and raised in Snellville, Georgia, which is located east of Stone Mountain. They come from a large family of nine where music was a big part of their upbringing. The eldest sister Kylan stated,
“We were literally born into the arts doing everything from entertainment to sports. We saw a really great opportunity to form a group and our dad heard us singing around the house and felt like wow, ok, this is something we need to shift our attention to, and we did.”
The BoykinZ began singing together when the youngest sibling, Alona, was just five years old. Their parents had a performing arts school of music, and their mother taught them to harmonize. Soon after, they began traveling and performing.
In 2020, during the pandemic, The BoykinZ decided to post a video on TikTok. This changed their lives, leading to viral fame with over 80 million views. Their hard work and dedication paid off, and they received recognition and support from some of the biggest names in the music industry. This online success translated into mainstream opportunities, including an appearance at the 2023 CMT Awards, where they performed alongside country music icon Shania Twain. They also appeared on The Kelly Clarkson Show and were featured in numerous high-profile magazines.
The BoykinZ have always expressed their appreciation to every opportunity that came their way. They even obtained an influx of national social media campaigns for brands such as T-Mobile, Nike, Universal’s Minions movie, Conair Man, Neon Cowboys, Cash App, Disney, and Fender Guitar.
The BoykinZ are not only talented but they are well spoken and very intelligent. Three of the sisters are graduates of Georgia Cyber Academy (GCA), with the youngest currently attending the same institution. The flexibility of online schooling has allowed them to balance their academic pursuits with their burgeoning music careers.
In November 2024, The BoykinZ achieved a milestone by signing with Quality Control Music, becoming the first country act under the Atlanta-based label known for its prominence in hip-hop.
Their musical repertoire includes original songs “Girls Night,” and “Fell In Love With A Cowboy,” which they have performed across the country, captivating audiences with their unique blend of country sounds and beautiful harmony. The “Fell In Love With A Cowboy” video has already obtained hundreds of thousands of views and an abundance of positive reviews to match. Big sister Kylan is the mastermind choreographer behind all of their awesome dance moves.
The Fleet Mag reporter DJ Pynk Dyamond was simply amazed with The BoykinZ during the interview. She expressed admiration for the group’s talent and offered to promote their music and put them in heavy rotation on 2Fli Radio, a digitally tracked station within the nearly 100 radio stations in The Fleet DJs Radio Network.
Before wrapping up the interview, DJ Pynk Dyamond asked who their musical influences are, Kylan stated Beyoncé, Anale chose Stevie Wonder, Nytere, Destiny’s Child and The Chicks, and Alona, loves The Jackson 5.
Alona went into detail why, “The Jackson 5 is very inspirational, I love their journey.” She went on to say, “They had everything going on. They had the vocals down pact. They were dancing with guitars in their hands during a variety shows, and they were in their element. And I loved their clothes. All of their outfits were custom-made made appealing to their personality.”
When asked what was the best advice given to them, Anale recounted three words from Coach K, “Ignore the noise.”
We all know many naysayers, doubters, and jealous people may try to interfere when you’re on the path to success, but as long as The BoykinZ remember and follow the words of wisdom from Coach K, these young ladies can achieve anything.
One thing that keeps these ladies going full steam ahead is a phrase that stuck with Nytere as she watched an awards show one day. During an acceptance speech, a producer stated, “The worst thing in life is wasted talent, so don’t waste yours.”
The BoykinZ continue to break barriers in the country music scene, and they are at the top of their game while staying true to their southern heritage.
