The cause of death for the younger sister of the legendary singer Prince has been revealed. Tyka Nelson’s autopsy results were released by the Minnesota Department of health Monday, November 18th, revealing cardiac arrest and congestive heart failure led to her death. Authorities also stated that many years of substance abuse contributed to the weakening of her heart.
Nelson’s death certificate list substance use disorder as a contributing condition in her death. She was dealing with heart issues for several years prior to her death. Tyka is the only full sibling of Prince and was listed as one of the legal heirs in 2016 after the tragic passing of her famous brother. Tyka Nelson leaves behind 2 sons and 5 grandchildren. She was 64 years old.
