The co-founder of Black Mafia Family, Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory, has been released from FCI Coleman Low federal prison, in Sumter County Florida. He is completing the rest of his sentence in a halfway house in Miami.

Big Meech 56, was arrested in 2005 and sentenced to 30 years in prison in 2008, along with his brother Terry Lee Flenory, 54. The siblings were convicted of drug trafficking and money laundering through their BMF Hip-Hop label, which authorities believed was a cover up to disguise their drug operation. The brothers allegedly conducted more than 270 million dollars in drug sells across the country.

In 2019, Big Meech and Terry Lee requested to be released as the Covid 19 virus began to rapidly spread throughout prisons, as well as around the world. Terry Lee’s request was granted, he was released from prison and allowed to serve the remainder of his sentence on house arrest. At the time, Big Meech’s request was denied, now five years later, he has transitioned to a more comfortable setting at a halfway house.

A judge reduced Big Meech sentence by 3 years earlier this year. He is expected to be released January 27, 2026.
