It was an amazing day for hip hop and Billboard charting, award winning, platinum recording artist, Gloria Hallelujah Woods, better known as Glorilla. She surprised fans at 901 Day performing her latest single, “TGIF”. You may ask, what is 901 day? It is a celebration of Memphis culture, creativity, and community, which was held on September 1st. The date was chosen because of the city’s 901 area code. Other performers for the big event included Ladia Yates Dance Academy, which led the very first city wide flash mob, and Memphis recording artist, Big Boogie.

Glorilla was honored with a key to the city of Memphis. This is a symbolic honor that a city bestows on a person or organization to recognize their service to the public or civic contributions. As a native of Memphis, it is only fitting that Glorilla receive such an elite honor.

Glorilla is widely known for her viral hit single, “FNF (Let’s Go),” which took the world by storm in 2022. Now one of the biggest names in music, she is giving back and recently donated $25,000 to her alma mater, Martin Luther King Jr. College Preparatory High School.

It is amazing to see recording artist give back to the community that helped raise them, and that same community recognize their creatives for their contributions and growth in their craft.

Congratulations Glorilla, I cannot wait to see what the future has in store for you.
