Music lovers in Chi-Town got a chance to witness true hip-hop greatness. Rap icon Rakim performed before a packed house at DuSable Black History Museum and Education Center. The Fleet Mag celebrity reporters Megastar2414 and MzMinah BrownDivah were in the building and brought their A-game as they covered the event
The lineup of DJs was nothing short of legendary. From old-school hip-hop beats, to modern electronic mixes, the DJs kept the crowd moving and grooving throughout the day and into the night. Among the standout DJs at the festival were DJ 33 1/3, who brought his signature blend of classic hip-hop and soulful sounds to the stage, and DJ V Dub, who wowed the crowd with his expert turntable skills and infectious energy. Other notable DJs on the show included Mustafa Rocks, Wayne Williams, Farley Jackmaster Funk, Reverb, and DJ Doug. Each DJ brought their own flavor to the event, showcasing their skills engaging the audience.
Laughter is good for the soul, and the crowd had plenty of them as comedians Kenny Howell and Marlon Mitchell took the stage delivery their hilarious sets. Then the moment everyone was waiting for arrived. Rakim took the stage captivating the audience with his iconic flow and powerful presence. His lyrics echoed through the air as he performed several classic hits and new tracks. Fans danced and sang along as he commanded the stage. Rakim’s performance was a testament to his enduring legacy in the music industry.
The Love Jones Concert and Music Fest was a huge success. The event will be held annually to celebrate music and culture, as well as bring awareness to Black owned businesses in the area. This festival is not just about music, it’s much deeper. Contributions from the event will be used to fund mentor programs, and provide support to other community services.
