Sean Kingston 34, a Jamaican-American singer, rapper, and songwriter, rose to fame with his 2007 debut single “Beautiful Girls,” which topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Known for blending reggae, pop, and hip-hop, Kingston has released several albums and singles, making a significant impact on the music industry with his catchy tunes and unique style. However, his recent music is not what is gaining him major attention.
Kingston was arrested in California on multiple fraud and theft charges following a SWAT raid on his rented mansion in Florida. The raid was conducted by the Broward County Sheriff’s Office, which also led to the arrest of Kingston’s mother, 61-year old, Janice Turner, on similar charges.
The investigation involves allegations that Kingston defrauded Ver Ver Entertainment by not paying for a massive 232-inch TV and sound system installed in his home, and falsely claiming a relationship with Justin Bieber to secure a lower payment.
The alleged schemes, which began in October 2023, include defrauding several businesses, such as a jeweler and a car dealership, of goods valued at $100,000 or more. Kingston and his mother are accused of grand theft of property valued around $86,000, grand theft from a car dealership of a luxury car worth about $159,000, and grand theft of jewelry worth $480,000, according to documents. They also face several counts of identity fraud and writing bad checks. Furthermore, Kingston has been charged with violating his probation related to trafficking stolen property.
Kingston was apprehended without incident at Fort Irwin, an Army base about 150 miles northeast of Los Angeles. Authorities have not disclosed specific details about the charges due to the ongoing investigation. During the raid, officials were seen loading goods into a van from Kingston’s mansion, which was surrounded by luxury sports cars.
Kingston posted on Instagram, “People love negative energy! I am good and so is my mother! My lawyers are handling everything as we speak.”
