On this day, October 19, 1979, Prince released his second album which is self titled, “Prince”. The album peaked at #3 on the Billboard R&B chart and spun hit songs, “I Wanna Be Your Love”, “Sexy Dance”, and “Why You Wanna Treat Me So Bad”.
The album reached Platinum status within four months of its release.
Prince releases his sophomore album, Prince, containing the #1 R&B hit “I Wanna Be Your Lover” and the original version of “I Feel For You,” later a hit for Chaka Khan. It’s his first album certified Platinum for sales over 1 million.
