Seal Releases Grammy Winning Single “Kiss From a Rose”

On this day, July 18, 1994, Seal released the single “Kiss From a Rose”. Though he did not have any confidence in the song, and no intentions of placing it on his album, the song became one of his biggest hits selling over 8,000,000 copies and three Grammy’s. “Kiss From a Rose” was also featured on the “Batman Forever” soundtrack.


Seal, whose full name is Seal Henry Olusegun Olumide Adeola Samuel, is a British singer-songwriter born in London. He is best known for his soulful voice, unique style, and hits such as “Crazy,” and “Fly Like an Eagle.”

Seal’s music career took off in the late 1980s and early 1990s when he gained international recognition for his self-titled debut album “Seal,” released in 1991. The album included the iconic single “Crazy,” which became a massive hit. His subsequent album “Seal II,” was released in 1994.

Throughout his career, Seal continued to release successful albums, experimenting with different musical styles, including soul, pop, and R&B. He received several awards and accolades for his work, including multiple Grammy Awards.
